Cultural Committee Report

The Cultural Committee of Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce serves as the vibrant pulse of the institution. It is a student-centric platform dedicated to identifying, nurturing, and showcasing the hidden talents of the student body. While the classroom focuses on academic excellence in commerce and management, the Cultural Committee ensures the holistic development of students by providing a stage for creative expression. From the high-energy beats of the Manan” Inter-collegiate Fest to the traditional roots of Majithia Week,” the committee transforms the campus into a melting pot of art, music, dance, and drama. More than just a series of events, the committee is a tradition. It is built on the belief that a student’s journey is incomplete without the stage. Whether it is the rhythmic beats of a folk dance, the strategic silence of a chess match, or the high-stakes environment of a fashion show, the committee ensures that every student finds their “spotlight.”

1. Guru Purnima

The pillars of Cultural Committee celebrated Guru Purnima on 10 July 2025 in the Seminar Hall with great reverence and enthusiasm. The event marked a meaningful beginning to the academic year, with 45 students actively participating in the celebration.

The program was organized as a traditional tribute to honour and express gratitude towards the educators who guide and mentor students throughout their academic journey. The ceremony began with a formal welcome, followed by students offering floral tributes as a symbol of respect to the faculty members.

The event featured soulful cultural performances, including devotional songs and thoughtful speeches that highlighted the significance of the mentor-student bond. Students spoke about the invaluable role teachers play in shaping character, imparting knowledge, and inspiring success.

Faculty members appreciated the efforts and heartfelt gestures of the students. The celebration fostered a strong sense of respect, gratitude, and unity within the academic community. Overall, the Guru Purnima celebration was a graceful and inspiring event that reinforced the values of respect, learning, and the timeless importance of guidance in shaping bright futures.

2.Talent Hunt

 The Talent Hunt Event was successfully organized on 25th July 2025 at the College Campus, witnessing the enthusiastic participation of 18 students. The event served as a vibrant platform for both freshmen and returning students to showcase their hidden talents and creative abilities, setting an energetic tone for the academic year.

The program featured a diverse range of performances, highlighting the multifaceted talents within the student community. From energetic beat-boxing acts to graceful classical dance performances, the stage was filled with creativity, confidence, and passion. Students also demonstrated their skills in singing, instrumental music, poetry recitation, and other unique art forms, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the college.

The atmosphere throughout the event was lively and encouraging, with peers and faculty members applauding and supporting each participant. The competition not only recognized talent but also enhanced students’ self-confidence, stage presence, and overall personality development.

3. Friendship Day

The program was organized to strengthen the bond of friendship and promote unity among students. The celebration began with a short introduction about the significance of Friendship Day and the importance of true friendship in personal and academic life.

Students engaged in various fun activities, games, and interactive sessions that encouraged teamwork and mutual understanding. Many students expressed their gratitude towards their friends through short speeches and heartfelt messages. Friendship bands were exchanged as a symbol of love, trust, and togetherness. The event created a cheerful atmosphere filled with laughter and positivist. It provided an opportunity for students to build stronger connections and create lasting memories. 4. Fresher’s Party

Date: 8 August 2025

To warmly welcome the new batch into the Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce family, the Cultural Committee organized a grand and refreshing Freshers’ Party on 8th August 2025 at 5:00 p.m. The program was specially arranged for the first-year students of B.Com, BMS, and B.Sc.-IT, with an enthusiastic presence of approximately 135 students.

The event was graced by the presence of Managing Trustee Shri Jayesh Majithia, Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja, Principal, BMS & Bsc-IT Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, and all faculty members, who warmly welcomed the freshers from all departments. Senior students extended a heartfelt welcome to their beloved juniors, creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere. A third-year student formally delivered the welcome address, cordially receiving the new students and marking the beginning of the celebration.

The cultural program began with an energetic welcome dance performed by the college cultural group, followed by a variety of entertaining performances including songs, dances, and engaging acts presented by students of B.Com, BMS, and B.Sc.-IT. The highlight of the evening was the much-awaited Mr. and Ms. Fresher Contest, where participants were judged on their wit, confidence, style, and stage presence.

The winners were announced and honored by Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja and Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, who presented the prizes and sashes to the winners.

At the end of the function, senior students expressed their gratitude to Managing Trustee Shri Jayesh Majithia, Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja, Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, all faculty members, and students for their cooperation in making the event a grand success. Refreshments were served to students, participants, and staff.

The function concluded at 9:00 p.m., leaving behind beautiful memories and marking a joyful beginning to the academic journey of the new batch.

5. Janmashtami

Date: 14 August 2025

Venue: College Campus

The Traditional Dahi Handi celebration was organized on 14th August 2025 in the college campus with great enthusiasm and devotion. The event commemorated the birth of Lord Krishna and aimed to promote cultural awareness and team spirit among students. Total of 33 students actively participated in the celebration. The campus was filled with spiritual energy as students gathered to witness and take part in the festive activity. The main highlight of the event was the formation of human pyramids, symbolizing the playful and courageous spirit of Lord Krishna.

Students demonstrated remarkable discipline, coordination, and teamwork while forming the pyramid to break the Dahi Handi. Safety measures were ensured throughout the activity, and participants cooperated responsibly, making the event both successful and safe. The celebration not only strengthened unity and bonding among students but also helped in preserving and promoting Indian cultural traditions within the campus. The event concluded on a joyful note with cheers and appreciation for the participants’ collective effort. Overall, the Dahi Handi celebration was a memorable and spiritually uplifting experience for everyone present.

Independence Day

The college proudly celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 at the college campus with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of Managing Trustee Shri Jayesh Majitha, Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja, and Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, along with all faculty members and around 25 students.

The celebration began with a vibrant and traditional Lezim dance performance presented by the girl students to warmly welcome the dignitaries. The energetic beats and synchronized movements created a patriotic and festive atmosphere on the campus.

Following the welcome ceremony, the National Flag was unfurled by the Managing Trustee Shri Jayesh Majitha in the presence of Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja and Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru. As the Tiranga fluttered high, everyone stood in reverence and sang the National Anthem, paying tribute to the brave freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the independence of India.

After the flag-hoisting ceremony, students performed a disciplined March Past and Salami under the able guidance of Sports Sir Mr. Saurabh Gehara, reflecting unity, coordination, and patriotic spirit.

The cultural program then proceeded with patriotic songs performed by students, filling the atmosphere with pride and national unity. A short skit was also presented, beautifully depicting the struggles and sacrifices of our national heroes during the freedom movement. These performances served as a powerful reminder of the values of courage, unity, and dedication.

The celebration concluded with a motivating speech highlighting the importance of preserving freedom, strengthening national integration, and contributing responsibly toward the nation’s progress. The event was a meaningful and inspiring experience for everyone present, reinforcing a deep sense of patriotism and respect for the nation’s rich history.

6. Teacher’s Day

Students took over the management of the day to honour their “Gurus.” Creative performances and fun awards for teachers made the day memorable and full of laughter. On this special occasion, students took over the management of the day to honour their respected “Gurus.” They assumed responsibilities such as coordinating the program, anchoring, and arranging various activities, showcasing leadership and teamwork skills.

The celebration featured creative performances including songs, dances, and short skits dedicated to teachers. Students also presented fun and thoughtful awards to faculty members, which added a joyful and light-hearted touch to the event. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, appreciation, and heartfelt gratitude. Teachers appreciated the efforts and warm gestures of the students. The event strengthened the bond between teachers and students while recognizing the vital role educators play in shaping young minds

7. Days Celebration

Date: 15-20 September 2025

The college enthusiastically celebrated “Days Celebration” from 15 to 20 September 2025 at the College Campus. A total of 50 students actively participated in the week-long celebration, making the event lively and memorable.

Each day was dedicated to a specific theme, encouraging students to showcase their creativity, confidence, and team spirit. The celebration included activities such as traditional day, retro day, cultural day, sports activities, and fun competitions. Students came dressed according to the daily themes, bringing colour and vibrancy to the campus.

Various cultural performances, group games, and interactive activities were organized to promote bonding among students. The events provided a platform for students to express their talents through dance, music, fashion walks, and other creative presentations. Faculty members appreciated the enthusiasm and discipline maintained throughout the celebration.

The primary objective of celebrating these themed days was to promote unity, boost confidence, enhance participation, and create joyful memories within the college community.

8. Garba Night

The first term concluded on a vibrant and energetic note with a colorful Garba Night, organized as part of the festive celebrations of Navratri. The event beautifully showcased the rich cultural heritage of Gujarat and India. The campus resonated with festive enthusiasm as students and faculty members, dressed in traditional attire, gathered to celebrate the spirit of devotion and joy.

The program began with a brief introduction highlighting the significance of Navratri and the importance of Garba as a devotional dance dedicated to Goddess Durga. Soon, the atmosphere came alive with rhythmic folk music, synchronized claps, and coordinated Garba and Dandiya steps. Students formed lively circles and performed with great energy, grace, and enthusiasm, reflecting cultural pride and unity.

The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja and IQAC / BMS & B.Sc. IT Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, whose encouragement added dignity and inspiration to the event. To recognize talent and active participation, certificates and trophies were awarded by them for various categories.

9. Diwali Celebration

The campus was beautifully transformed with vibrant lanterns and colourful rangoli designs, creating a festive and traditional ambiance. A formal celebration was organized, where students and staff gathered to enjoy traditional snacks and cultural warmth. Adding to the excitement, a “Best Eco-Friendly Decor” competition was conducted among the classes, encouraging creativity, environmental awareness, and active participation.

10. Majithia Week

Date: 24-26 November 2025

Majithia Week was organized on the college campus under the guidance of the Culture Committee with the objective of promoting cultural awareness, creativity, and student participation in co-curricular activities. The event aimed to provide a platform for students to showcase their talents, enhance their confidence, and foster team spirit. The event was successfully conducted under the supervision and guidance of Asst. Prof. Shriya Pandit, Dr.

Reshma Vaja, and Dr. Meena Mashru. Their continuous support and encouragement played a vital role in the smooth execution of the program. The activities commenced at 9:00 am and continued till 1:00 pm.

The faculty coordinators ensured proper planning, discipline, and active engagement throughout the event. During Majithia Week, various cultural and creative activities were organized to engage students. The events were structured to encourage participation, teamwork, and innovation. Students actively took part in different competitions and showcased their enthusiasm and talent. The activities were designed not only for

entertainment but also for overall personality development. Participants demonstrated creativity, confidence, and collaborative spirit throughout the event.

Majithia Week was successfully organized by the Culture Committee on the college campus. The program achieved its objectives of encouraging cultural participation and overall student development. The collective efforts of the faculty coordinators and students contributed significantly to the grand success of the event. 13.Christmas Party

 On 23rd December 2025, the Cultural Committee of the college organized a joyful celebration of Christmas to promote unity, harmony, and the spirit of secularism. The celebration was held in the Seminar Hall and Staff Room, creating a warm and festive atmosphere across the campus.

A beautifully decorated Christmas tree adorned with lamps and flowers was placed in one corner of the college, adding charm and festive cheer to the surroundings.

The event was graced by the presence of Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja, Coordinator Dr. Meena Mashru, and the entire teaching and non-teaching staff. The Cultural Committee warmly welcomed the dignitaries and faculty members.

The program commenced with the principal addressing the gathering. She extended her heartfelt Christmas greetings to the students and staff and conveyed her best wishes for the upcoming New Year, inspiring everyone to step into the new year with positivity and enthusiasm.

Students from B.Com, BMS, and B.Sc. IT actively participated in the celebration. The program included various engaging activities such as one-minute games, dance performances, and singing performances. The students showcased their talents with great enthusiasm and energy.

The highlight of the celebration was the vibrant DJ session where students enjoyed dancing together, spreading happiness and festive spirit. A surprise visit from Santa Claus further added excitement and delight among the students. The celebration concluded with a winter-themed musical session, filling the campus with joy and togetherness.

The event successfully ended the year on a cheerful note, fostering unity, cultural appreciation, and festive spirit among students and staff.

14. Republic Day

Venue: Sai Palace Garden and Resort

The Cultural Committee, in association with the IQAC, organized a grand farewell program for the students of Third Year B. Com, BMS, and B. Sc.IT on 28th February 2026 at Sai Palace.

The students received a warm welcome at the venue, where the staff of Sai Palace greeted them by tying welcome bands on their wrists. This thoughtful gesture created a joyful and celebratory atmosphere. The students then proceeded for lunch, where a delicious and wide variety of dishes were served. The menu offered a delightful amalgamation of cuisines, which was appreciated by everyone present.

A lively DJ party was arranged as part of the celebration. The students enthusiastically enjoyed dancing, celebrating, and capturing memorable moments. They took numerous photographs with their friends and faculty members, preserving beautiful memories of their final year together.

The respected Principal, Dr. Reshma Vaja, and the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Meena Mashru, wholeheartedly participated in the celebration and enjoyed the event along with the students and staff, making the occasion even more special. Special appreciation goes to Sanjay Sir, who managed and coordinated the entire event efficiently. His dedicated efforts ensured that the program was conducted smoothly and successfully.

We are a bunch of motivated individuals who believe that a college should have its equal share of fun & frolic along with the case studies. Cultural Committee is an attempt to capture the vibrant persona of the students by offering them a platform to showcase their inner musicians, dancers, actors, painters, writers, photographers and dreamers.

 

Objective:

  1. To promote cultural awareness and preserve India’s rich cultural heritage among students.
  2. To encourage creativity, confidence, leadership, and teamwork through active participation in events and festivals.
  3. To foster unity, inclusivity, and mutual respect among students from diverse backgrounds.
  4. To organize cultural, social, and national celebrations that enriches campus life and strengthens institutional values.
  5. To enhance students’ personality development and interpersonal skills beyond academic learning.

Outcome:

  1. Students developed confidence, creativity, and stage presence by actively participating in cultural activities.
  2. Cultural programs promoted teamwork, leadership, coordination, and event-management skills among students.
  3. Participation in diverse cultural events strengthened unity, inclusiveness, and mutual respect within the college community.
  4. Students gained awareness and appreciation of India’s cultural, social, and national heritage.
  5. The committee activities enhanced students’ communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  1. Guru Purnima Celebration

Date: 22 July 2024

Organized by: Cultural Committee

Event Highlights:

The event was organized by students of Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce. The Seminar Hall was decorated with flowers and banners themed “Guru – The Light of Knowledge.” The program began with lamp lighting followed by the Principal’s welcome address. Students delivered speeches in Hindi, English, Marathi, and Gujarati. Devotional songs and classical dance performances reflected respect and gratitude toward teachers.

  1. Friendship Day Celebration

Event Highlights:

The program began at 10:10 a.m. with musical games such as Musical Friends Jodi. Prof. Shadab Shaikh welcomed students and faculty. The Principal Dr. Reshma Vaja and Vice Principal Dr. Shweta Kumar extended greetings. Games included a Quiz on Friendship and Musical Jodi. Students dressed in casual attire and enjoyed dance performances and a photo session.

Event Highlights:

The program began at 9:00 a.m. with flag hoisting by Trustee Shri Jayeshbhai Majithia. The Principal delivered a patriotic speech. Students, faculty, and management participated enthusiastically.

  1. Krishna Janmashtami Celebration

Date: 26 August 2024
Venue: College Campus

Event Highlights:

About 66 students participated. The main attraction was Dahi Handi, where blindfolded students attempted to break the pot under guidance. The campus was decorated with vibrant colours and music. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Shadab Shaikh.

Event Highlights:

Students decorated the hall and honoured teachers with flowers and red pens. Musical performances, speeches, and games like musical chairs were organized.

Event Highlights:

The event commenced at 4:00 p.m. with a welcome address by the Principal and Trustees. Cultural performances, DJ party, and refreshments were arranged. Prof. Shriya Pandit anchored the program.

Event Highlights:

Students and staff dressed in traditional attire and performed Garba to live dhol music. Food stalls added to the festive atmosphere.

The campus was decorated festively. Secret Santa was the key attraction, promoting happiness and bonding among students.

Event Highlights:

Three days of competitions including Rangoli, Tattoo Making, Mehendi, Cooking Without Fire, BGMI, Dance, Singing, Mimicry, and Fashion Show. The event concluded with high student participation and enthusiasm.

Collaborations

In tune to provide holistic education, a need was felt to strengthen the industry-institution interaction and collaboration. By undertaking a partnership, our college made advancement in Academe-Industry relationship.

Our college signed MOU with Skill Development and Vocational Training Institute of India, which has opened opportunities for our students by imparting various skill development courses.

Recent tie-ups with IMC – Chamber of Commerce and Industry will help our student in pursuit of better employment opportunities or independent export-import executives or start their own export-import business through value-added courses such as

  • Advance Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain

Our college foray into newer territories pertaining to undergraduate and postgraduate education by establishing Personal Contact Program centers of B.Com and M.Com of IDOL in our college premises.

Cultural

Majithia Week, 2k18 an intra-collegiate event was organized from 13h December 2018 to 19th December 2018 where event such as tattoo making, poster making, nail art, Mehandi, cricket, PUBG mobile, hulk it up, tug of war, rink football, singing, dance, fashion show, hairstyle, rangoli, carrom, salad decoration, best out of waste, chess were organized

Snchankur Melawa’ i.e. ‘Fun N Fair’ was organized on 24th December 2018 where immense involvement was received from students of various school and colleges.

Sports

At the university level, our college students participated for 20 Km walking race, table tennis, badminton, kabaddi, volleyball, weight lifting, cricket, and best physique competition.

For the intercollegiate competition, box cricket and rink football team participated in the competition at Thakur College, kabaddi team at M. D. Shah Mahila College, cricket team participated at Bal Bharati College, KES’s Shroff College and at M. D. Shah Mahila College. Our college team also participated in Reliance Foundation Youth Sports.

A notable achievement was made by our student ‘Omkar Kadam’ who secured 1t place in Max Bupa 10 Km Walking Race, 2nd place in 10 Km Walking Bombay City athlete meet, 2hnd place in 10 Km Walking race at Shivaji Park, 3rd place in 20 Km Walking Race in Maharashtra State senior athletics championship, 3rd place in Malad Walkathon and was awarded Best Athlete in Walking Sports at Poinsur Gymkhana.

NSS

NSS activities are promoted by our college as it inculcates social welfare in students and provides service to society without bias. Our college has 2 NSS unit which has an enrolment of 200 students. Our NSS unit functions under the guidance of program officer Prof. Suresh Lokare. 70 activities were undertaken to make students sensitize towards society. Our NSS volunteers actively participated in many activities like Yoga Day, Road Safety workshop; Civil defense training, etc.

To imbibe the feeling of social welfare and community development, 7 days residential camp was organized at our adopted village ‘Bethane’. At Bathane, NSS volunteers undertook Swacha Abhiyan Rally and cleaned the village. They painted village school. They taught orphanage children and undertook the program for villagers. They undertook NDRF training. They also undertook Vanrai Bhandhara Our Volunteers celebrated our Hon’ble Trustee Sir’s Birthday with orphanage children and took dinner with them.

Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension

D.L.LE is the new initiative undertaken by our college from the academe year 2018-2019. It works under the guidance of work extension teacher Bhavika Rumde and has 34 registered members. Activities undertaken by D.L.L.E are

  • Kerala Relief fund rally with around 200 participants
  • The first-term training program conducted by Mrs. Rekha Katheeth to guide students.

The research forum of our college encourages the student to undertake research activities. Ankit Mahendra Tiwari, Aarti Vaishya, Parvati Prajapati, Shiv Jaiswar, Ankit Tiwari, Fatima Khan, Rahim Shaikh, Murali Mishra, and Amit Pathak presented their research paper at KES College.
