Description

The PPT Seminar was organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce.

The session began with a welcome address followed by the introduction of the organizing committee members. Students presented their topics through PowerPoint presentations on various contemporary and academic issues. Each participant was evaluated on content, creativity, delivery, and presentation style.

The event was convened by Asst. Prof. Premkala Yadav (Convener), under the guidance of Dr. Meena Mashru (IQAC Coordinator) and Dr. Reshma Vaja (I/C Principal).

  • The objective of the event “LEAD-O-MANIA” was to develop leadership, qualities, quick thinking, and presence of mind among students.
  • The program encouraged participants to listen carefully, respond smartly, and at as a team through fun leadership-based activities.

Description

The event began with an interactive leadership game conducted by the organizer. Participants were instructed to follow the leader’s commands—but with a twist:

When the leader said “Jump”, participants had to Stop. When the leader said “Stop”, participants had to Jump.

When the leader said “Walk”, participants had to Dance.

When the leader said “Dance”, participants had to Walk.

This playful confusion created excitement and laughter, helping participants stay

alert and focused while enjoying the challenge.

At the end of the session, a short fun activity was organized where students had to imitate the leader’s gestures within a few seconds. The one who matched the leader’s action most accurately and quickly was declared the winner. This closing game brought energy and smiles to everyone present.

Outcome

  • The event was highly successful and engaging. It improved participants’ listening, leadership, and coordination skills while promoting teamwork and confidence.

The Debate Competition was organized by the Department of Lifelong Learning & Extension (DLLE) of Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce in association with STEP IN FUTURE as a skill development initiative. The activity provided a dynamic platform for students to express their views on contemporary and socially relevant topics. Through structured arguments and rebuttals, participants enhanced their communication abilities, critical thinking, and analytical skills. The competition encouraged active participation, healthy discussion, and respect for diverse perspectives, aligning with DLLE’s objective of holistic personality development and lifelong learning.

An Elocution Competition on career-related topics was successfully conducted on 17th January in Block No. 13. Students actively participated and spoke confidently on various career topics.

Each participant expressed their thoughts, dreams, and understanding of careers in

today’s world. The topics helped students explore different professions, understand the importance of education, and realize how choosing the right career plays an

important role in life.

Judges evaluated the participants based on content, clarity, confidence, and overall

presentation. The competition created an enthusiastic and motivating environment for all students.

An essay writing competition on the theme “Environmental Protection” was organized on 22 November 2025 at 10:30 a.m. in Block No. 13.

Students were given 10 different topics related to environmental protection, out of which each participant had to select one topic of their choice. The topics covered important environmental issues such as pollution control, conservation of natural resources, climate change, afforestation, and sustainable development.

Students participated enthusiastically and expressed their views creatively through well-structured essays. The competition provided a platform for students to showcase their writing abilities and their understanding of environmental concerns. Faculty members supervised and evaluated the essays based on content, creativity, clarity, and relevance to the topic.

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) organized a group discussion activity on 10th December 2025 to engage students in meaningful dialogue on current and relevant technological issues. The discussion focused on the following three debate topics:

Is Artificial Intelligence a Boon or a Threat to Humanity?

Does Technology Improve Education or Reduce Real Learning?

Is Technology Making Children Smarter or Lazier?

Students were divided into groups and encouraged to present arguments for and against each topic. Each participant actively shared opinions, real-life examples, and personal experiences related to technology and its influence on society. The discussion was moderated by faculty members to ensure discipline, equal participation, and constructive debate.

Description:

During the four-day reading session, the student read two books related to communication skills in the library. Each day, the student spent time reading selected chapters from both books in a quiet and disciplined environment.

The student focused on understanding the main ideas, learning new words, and observing different communication techniques explained in the books. After reading, the student reflected on the content and noted how the lessons from both books could be applied in daily communication, such as speaking clearly, listening actively, and expressing thoughts confidently.

The reading session helped the student stay focused, improve concentration, and gain a better understanding of effective communication through written material.

Description:

As part of the social awareness initiative, students left the college at 10:30 a.m. and reached Kandivali Railway Station to conduct a railway cleaning and awareness campaign.

The students actively participated in cleaning the station premises by collecting plastic waste, paper, and other litter from the platforms and surrounding areas.

Along with cleaning, students displayed banners carrying strong messages on cleanliness and public responsibility. They also raised awareness by shouting impactful slogans, motivating passengers and local people to maintain cleanliness. The slogans were loud, clear, and meaningful, attracting the attention of commuters and creating a positive social message.

Railway passengers appreciated the effort and many of them supported the campaign by cooperating and responding positively to the students’ messages.
Outcome:

The campaign successfully created awareness among commuters about the importance of cleanliness in public places. Students developed a sense of social responsibility, teamwork, and leadership through active participation.

The activity helped in improving the cleanliness of the station area and inspired people to adopt hygienic habits. Overall, the railway cleaning and awareness campaign was a meaningful and impactful experience that contributed to social awareness and community service.

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) plays a vital role in connecting academic learning with real-life social responsibility. Event: Silent Rally on Railway and Road Safety Rules

Date: 20th September 2024

On 20th September 2024, the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension organized a Silent Rally to create awareness about Railway and Road Safety Rules. The rally began at 10:15 a.m. from the department and proceeded through M. G. Road. Students, teachers, and volunteers participated by carrying placards with safety messages such as “Follow Traffic Rules,” “Stop at Red Lights,” “Use Foot Over Bridges at Railways,” and “Wear Helmets, Save Lives.” As it was a silent rally, no slogans were shouted, emphasizing the visual impact of the messages. More than 35 students from various colleges actively participated, with support from the local traffic police, who ensured smooth movement and safety during the event. The rally successfully raised public awareness and was appreciated for its peaceful and effective approach toward promoting road and railway safety.

 

Event: Debate Competition

Date: 20th September 2024

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension organized a debate on 29th August on the issue of child labour, focusing on whether it should be completely banned or regulated. Students from various departments participated enthusiastically and were divided into two teams. Team A argued for a complete ban, emphasizing the violation of children’s rights, exploitation, harmful working conditions, loss of education, and the global responsibility to protect children. Team B supported regulation, highlighting economic realities faced by poor families, the possibility of ensuring safe working conditions, and opportunities for skill development.

After evaluating both perspectives, the judges appreciated the depth of research and passion shown by both teams but concluded that a complete ban, along with improved education and economic support for families, is the most effective long-term solution. Team A was declared the winner. Ananya Singh from Team A was awarded Best Speaker, while Vikram Rao from Team B received the Runner-Up Speaker award. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and a call to work towards a future free from child labour.

Event: Essay Writing Competition on “Status of Senior Citizens”

Date: 28th August     

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension organized an essay writing competition on 28th August on the topic “Status of Senior Citizens” to raise awareness among students about the challenges and contributions of senior citizens in society. Students from various departments participated and presented well-researched essays examining the social, economic, and emotional conditions of the elderly.

The essays highlighted key issues such as social inclusion, health and mental well-being, economic difficulties, and the legal rights and government policies meant to support senior citizens. Participants emphasized the importance of respect and dignity for the elderly, the value of intergenerational bonding, and the role of government initiatives like pension schemes, healthcare services, and welfare programs.

The judges appreciated the thoughtful analysis and depth of understanding shown by the students. Overall, the competition successfully sensitized participants to the realities faced by senior citizens and encouraged a more inclusive and respectful approach toward the elderly in society.

A poster-making competition on the theme “Save Trees and Natural Resources” was organized on 13th September 2024 to promote environmental awareness among students. The main objective of the event was to highlight the importance of conserving trees and natural resources while encouraging students to express their creativity through art.

The event began with a brief introduction emphasizing the role of environmental conservation in combating climate change and ensuring a sustainable future. Students actively participated and used various materials to create posters conveying strong messages about protecting nature. The posters were evaluated based on creativity, relevance to the theme, visual appeal, and clarity of message.

Overall, the competition was a great success, with students showcasing their artistic skills and concern for the environment. The event effectively raised awareness about environmental conservation and inspired participants to adopt eco-friendly practices and contribute positively toward protecting the planet.

 

Event: Street Play (Pollution)

On 4th October 2024, students of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) staged a powerful street play titled “Pollution” at the college ground floor to create awareness about the growing problem of pollution and its harmful impact on the environment and human health.

The play used engaging dialogues, visuals, and props to capture attention and deliver a strong message. Through characters like Citizen A, who represented public indifference, Citizen B, who advocated environmental responsibility, and the Nature Spirit, the performance highlighted the consequences of air and water pollution. The storyline showed a transformation from neglect to collective action, culminating in scenes of community efforts such as cleaning plastic waste and planting trees.

Audience participation and a post-performance discussion helped deepen understanding of local pollution issues and possible solutions. Overall, the street play effectively conveyed the urgency of addressing pollution and inspired the audience to adopt environmentally responsible habits for a cleaner and healthier future.

Event: First-Term Training for DLLE Students Registered Under Mumbai University

Date: 5th July 2024

The Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE) of Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce and Management, affiliated with Mumbai University, conducted its first-term training program on 5th July 2024 in the college seminar hall. The program was organized to orient and guide students registered under DLLE and to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective participation in extension activities.

The training session provided an overview of DLLE’s mission and objectives, explained project guidelines, and clarified the roles and responsibilities of students, coordinators, and faculty members. Participants were also guided on documentation, report writing, and evaluation procedures. A motivational session highlighted the role of youth in social development. Interactive group discussions, Q&A sessions, and practical activities helped students better understand real-life challenges related to extension work.

The program witnessed active participation from students and faculty coordinators, with enthusiastic involvement from colleges in the Borivali area. On 3rd October, the Election Commission conducted a voting awareness and new voter registration drives in Room No. 30 of the college to educate students about the importance of voting and assist first-time voters in registering.

The event included an interactive session on the significance of voting, a step-by-step demonstration of the voter registration process (Form 6), and on-the-spot registration for students with the required documents. A lively Q&A session allowed participants to clarify doubts about voting rights, ID requirements, and the Election Commission’s role.

The drive successfully registered numerous students as new voters and inspired them to actively participate in upcoming elections. Overall, the initiative raised awareness about the power of voting, empowered students with essential knowledge, and promoted youth engagement in strengthening democracy.

A Voting Awareness Program Rally was organized near Lalji Pada to educate and motivate the local community about the importance of voting and active participation in democracy.

The rally featured students, volunteers, and faculty members carrying vibrant posters and banners with slogans like “Your Vote, Your Voice!” and “Vote for Change, Vote for Growth!”. Pamphlets were distributed, providing information on voter registration and polling procedures. A short street play highlighted the consequences of voter apathy, and organizers interacted with residents to address their queries about voting.

The event successfully raised awareness among local residents, encouraged first-time voters to register, and reinforced the importance of responsible citizenship. Overall, the rally was impactful in promoting voter participation and inspiring the community to exercise their democratic rights.

Event: “Violence Against Women” Skirt

The evocative act play “Violence Against Women – A Journey Through Time” explored the historical and contemporary realities of gender-based violence, tracing its persistence from mythological times to the present day.

The play opened with Draupadi’s Vastra Haran from the Mahabharata, symbolizing the deep-rooted oppression and humiliation of women. It then moved to real-life incidents, including the Nirbhaya case (2012), the Badlapur case, and a recent Kolkata case, highlighting the brutality, societal apathy, and emotional trauma faced by women across different eras and communities.

Through powerful performances and seamless transitions between mythological, historical, and modern contexts, the play emphasized the universality and timelessness of violence against women. It concluded with a poignant monologue urging collective action, education, awareness, and stronger laws to ensure women’s safety and dignity.

Overall, the performance was a compelling, thought-provoking portrayal that left the audience deeply moved and inspired a call to action against gender-based violence

Event: Maharashtra Policy for Women (Seminar)

Date: 10th March 2025 (Monday)

A seminar on Maharashtra Policy for Women was conducted on 10th March 2025 in Room No. 32, led by Ms. Trupti Ashok Bharadi, to raise awareness about government policies and initiatives for women’s empowerment and welfare.

The seminar covered key areas including education and skill development, health and nutrition, employment and entrepreneurship, safety and security, and social welfare schemes. Participants learned about scholarships, vocational training, healthcare programs, laws against domestic violence, financial aid for women entrepreneurs, and support for widows and single mothers.

The event successfully enhanced understanding of women-centric policies, encouraged discussions on gender equality and women’s rights, and inspired attendees to actively participate in initiatives promoting women’s welfare. The session concluded with an interactive segment where participants shared thoughts and queries, making it both informative and engaging.

A seminar on Distance Education Opportunities was conducted by Ms. Swati Sable on 12th February 2025 to raise awareness about flexible learning options available through distance education.

The session highlighted the benefits of distance learning, including flexibility, accessibility, and efficient time management, allowing students to pursue education alongside other interests or careers. Ms. Sable provided information about various universities and institutions offering distance education programs and offered guidance on selecting suitable courses, managing study schedules, and utilizing online learning resources effectively.

An elocution competition on the theme “Importance of Ethics and Values” was held on 22nd January in Room No. 18 to promote awareness of moral principles and encourage value-driven behavior among students.

Participants, speaking in Hindi, Marathi, or English, shared their views on honesty, respect, responsibility, kindness, and other essential values, with each student given three minutes to present. The competition enhanced public speaking skills, boosted confidence, and encouraged self-reflection on personal behavior and responsibilities.

The judges appreciated the clarity, confidence, and impactful messages delivered by the students. Overall, the event was a success, inspiring participants and the audience to uphold ethics and values in daily life and fostering a sense of responsible citizenship.

She focused on  the various extension activities conducted under the Department of lifelong learning and extension and suggested various activities to be conducted online during the year 2020-21 amid Covid-19. Kerala Relief Fund Rally

D.L.L.E department has organized a rally for Kerala relief fund on 12th Sept. 2018 from our college to Kandivali station around 200 students (including principal and teaching staff) have participated.

Swad Se Swagat

D.L.L.E department as organized ‘ SWAD SE SWAGAT’ event in which students sold food and non-food items. “SWAD SE SWAGAT” which was scheduled from 10th to 20th Dec 2018 but then it was extended to 24th Dec 2018 on demand. Total sales from 10th Dec’ 2018 to 24th Dec’ 2018 amounted to Rs 12,894.

A Workshop on Self Defence

D.L.L.E has organized a workshop on self-defense in the college on 10th Feb’2019. Assistant Professor Captain Nazia Sayyed from Shri M.D. Shah Mahila College of Commerce was the guest speaker for the same. She guided, explained and trained the students for self-defense. Total 48 students from B.com course has attended the workshop and benefitted from the same.

Old Age Home Visit

All the students of D.L.L.E visited an old age home named as “Vatsalya Care Center” at Bhayedar east on 14th Feb’ 2019 i.e on ‘Valentine’s day.’ Donation of Rs. 3,751 was out of the Profit earned through ‘swad Se Swagat’ activity by the students.

Udaan Festival

Students of D.L.L.E had participated in the Udaan festival held on 16th Feb’ 2019 in St. Gonsalo Garcia college in Vasai. 14 students participated in the street play on the topic of “sexual harassment” and 2 students participated in the poster making the competition.
