A Step In Future – B.com (Management studies) Departmental Committee
“A Step In Future” is the official departmental committee of the B.com (Management Studies) Department, dedicated to the holistic development of students beyond the classroom. The committee is a student-faculty body formed with the vision of bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry expectations.
This committee plays a pivotal role in planning and executing co-curricular and extracurricular activities that empower students with practical exposure, professional skills, and leadership qualities. With a strong focus on real-world learning, the committee organizes seminars, workshops, industrial visits, competitions, and other developmental events throughout the academic year.
Objectives:
- To connect students with industry professionals and real-world practices through seminars, visits, and expert talks.
- To bridge the gap between theory and application through workshops and hands-on training.
- To develop leadership, initiative, and organizational skills by involving students in planning and leading activities.
- To prepare students for internships and placements through career guidance, soft-skill training, and resume development.
- To nurture creativity, teamwork, and strategic thinking through academic and management-focused competitions.

Event: A seminar on introduction to banking and insurance.

The seminar on “Introduction to Banking and Insurance” organized by step in future department. The seminar was held in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college.
The session began with an introductory note by the organizers, followed by a welcome address. The seminar, delivered by CA Suraj Wadhwa of EduAspire, aimed to provide students with a foundational understanding of two critical sectors: banking and insurance. The content was structured into two main sections- Basics of Banking and Introduction to Insurance. The event’s success was facilitated by the organizing committee, with each member playing a distinct and crucial role.
Event: Workshop on “Resume Building and linked in Profile”
Date: 15th September, 2025
The session began with an introductory note by the organizers, followed by a welcome address.Mr. Akash Yadav then conducted an engaging and interactive workshop, explaining the step-by-step process of writing resumes, highlighting common mistakes, and demonstrating how LinkedIn can be used as a tool for networking and career growth. Practical examples and live demonstrations were provided to help students apply the knowledge immediately.
Event: Guest lecture on Corporate Communication and Public Relations (CCPR)

The “Step in Future” Committee of Esplanade Education Society’s Niranjana Majithia College of Commerce successfully organized a specialized guest lecture on Corporate Communication and Public Relation. The event was specifically arranged for the students of the Third Year Bachelor of Management Studies (TYBMS) program, offering them practical insights and academic guidance relevant to their Semester V curriculum.The session was graced by the presence of the esteemed Asst. Prof. Dr. Megha Khedekar, who is a well-regarded academician and a recognized paper setter for the university’s Commerce and Management subjects. Her dual expertise ensured the lecture was both academically rigorous and strategically beneficial for the students.r. Khedekar structured her talk to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and its practical application, with a significant emphasis on the TYBMS Semester V subject, Corporate Communication and Public Relations.The guest lecture was a highly effective and insightful session. The presence of a university paper setter like Dr. Megha Khedekar allowed TYBMS students to gain an unparalleled understanding of their core subject matter and provided strategic advice for excelling in their end-of-semester examinations
Event: A seminar on financial awareness

A seminar on Financial Awareness was successfully conducted on 7th January 2025 from 9:00 AM onwards by the Step in Future Department for BMS and B.com students. The primary objective of the seminar was to educate participants about the importance of financial literacy and responsible money management.
The session focused on key financial topics such as budgeting, saving habits, investment options, banking services, digital payments, and financial planning for the future. The speakers emphasized the significance of understanding financial responsibilities at an early stage and making informed decisions regarding income, expenses, and investments.
The seminar also highlighted the importance of avoiding financial fraud, understanding credit systems, managing loans, and building good financial habits. Practical examples and real-life scenarios were shared to make the session more interactive and easier to understand.
Participants actively engaged in the discussion and clarified their doubts during the question-and-answer session. The seminar proved to be highly informative and beneficial, enhancing financial awareness among attendees.
Overall, the event was well-organized and achieved its objective of promoting financial literacy and responsible financial behavior.
Event: Trade Fair
Date: 22nd December, 2025
A Trade Fair was successfully organized on 22nd December 2025 from 9:00 AM onwards. The event provided students with an excellent platform to showcase their creativity, business ideas, and entrepreneurial skills by setting up different stalls.
Students displayed a wide variety of products and services, including handmade crafts, food items, games, innovative projects, and creative artworks. The fair created a lively and competitive environment where participants demonstrated teamwork, marketing strategies, and communication skills.
Teachers and judges evaluated the stalls based on creativity, presentation, business idea, and overall performance. At the end of the event, the winners were awarded certificates and medals in recognition of their outstanding efforts and innovative ideas.
The Trade Fair was a great success and was appreciated by all attendees for encouraging practical learning and entrepreneurship among students.
Event: Nature Visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Mumbai

A Nature Visit to Sanjay Gandhi National Park was organized on 12th December 2025 for BMS students to provide experiential learning beyond the classroom. The visit aimed to help students understand environmental management, sustainability practices, and the role of eco-tourism in the service sector.
During the visit, students observed the park’s management system, visitor facilities, safety measures, and conservation strategies. They learned how large natural reserves are administered, including revenue generation through tourism, maintenance of biodiversity, and environmental protection policies.
The visit also gave students insight into eco-tourism management, public relations, resource planning, and sustainable development practices. It helped them connect management concepts such as operations, marketing, and organizational behavior with real-world applications.
Overall, the visit was informative, educational, and refreshing, offering BMS students practical exposure to environmental and tourism management.
Event: Industrial Visit to Water Kingdom

An Industrial Visit to Water Kingdom was organized for students to provide them with practical exposure to the management and operational aspects of the entertainment and hospitality industry. The visit aimed to help students understand how large-scale recreational facilities are managed efficiently.
During the visit, students observed various departments such as operations, safety management, maintenance, customer service, and administration. The staff explained how the park ensures safety standards, crowd management, cleanliness, and smooth functioning of rides and attractions. Students also learned about ticket management, marketing strategies, and teamwork required to run such a large establishment successfully.
The visit was both educational and enjoyable, as students experienced real-life industrial operations while also exploring the recreational facilities. Overall, it was an informative and memorable experience for all participants.
